About Us

Phoenix Productions, Inc.

Founded in 1987 as a non-profit community theatre, Phoenix Productions has a mission to provide quality theatrical experiences for people on both sides of the footlights.

For our audiences, we offer major revivals of Broadway's best loved musicals at moderate cost. This combination of classics and costs allows many families to use our productions as a way to introduce youngsters to the joy of theatre.

For our performers, we offer a professional environment, credentialed staff, and the chance to perform in a full scale production in a renowned venue, the Count Basie Theatre. Thus, we attract talent from all over the state as they seek ways to polish their craft.

As corollaries to those endeavors, we also present small scale productions of experimental and sometimes original works in our own black box studio theatre, and we operate a highly successful summer day camp for youngsters who love to perform and who may one day be the stars of tomorrow.
A registered non-profit, Phoenix is steered by a Board of Trustees who are charged with preserving and growing the company for the public good. They serve without compensation.

The management of the company is entrusted to the Executive Committee which is elected each year by the Board of Trustees. For 2010, that Executive Committee consists of (top)  Tom Frascatore as President, Holly Hankins as Executive Director, (bottom left to right) Wendy Dobbs as Secretary, Tom Martini as Chairman of the Board and Joe Vecchio as Treasurer.

As we approach our 25th year, Phoenix Productions has earned a reputation as one of the top community theatre organizations in the East. As Tom Chesak of the Asbury Park Press puts it "The inspired band of non-professionals remains that rare organization using the appeal of this host venue to craft entertainments that are a definite cut above the church-basement product offered up by most amateur groups" And Phil Dorian of the Two River Times calls Phoenix Productions "the Grucci Brothers of community theatre".

As Phoenix grows, the demand for talent and energy grows as well. If you've ever had a hankering to construct or paint scenery, sew costumes, scrounge for props, or be involved with some very nice people in making the magic of live theatre, you are welcome at Phoenix. Talent and experience are always useful, but we are please to accept the efforts of anyone who chooses to volunteer. Give us a call or drop us a line and let us know who you are and what you want to do. Call 732-747-0014, email tom@phoenixredbank.com, or write to Phoenix at PO Box 727, Red Bank,  NJ  07701.
