Training for Theatre

CAMP PHOENIX

Central Jersey’s top musical theatre company presents their summer theatre day camp with an emphasis on both fun and “triple threat training”.  It's an opportunity to train with the professionals who cast and produce the shows you see on stage!

What is Camp Phoenix?

picture of perfomers in practiceOperated by Phoenix Productions at our Rehearsal Center in Red Bank, Camp Phoenix is a dynamic summer program that teaches acting, music and dance while providing a creative outlet for kids.

The curriculum includes a variety of techniques and is specifically designed to develop the "Triple Threat" with instruction in singing, acting and dancing for musical theatre.

What is a Triple Threat Performer?

In theater language, a Triple Threat Performer is a person who sings well, dances well, acts well, and feels confident on stage.  From high school stages to Broadway, directors look for the actor who can sing and dance; the singer who can dance and act; the dancer who can act and sing.  For twenty years Phoenix Productions has been legendary for “growing its own talent” by teaching young people how to sing, dance, and act well enough to perform alongside seasoned professionals.

Who should attend?

Children and teens who have fun and thrive under the direction of professional dance, music, and theater instructors.  No performer is too new to theatre or too seasoned to gain something from this experience.  Each one is evaluated and treated individually.  Students new to performing are introduced to the arts and those with experience are able to practice what they know as well as further hone their skills.  Enroll for top-notch instruction, pre-professional training, fun, and lifetime lessons for discipline, excellence and collaboration.  You don’t have to want to become a professional to be involved.  When you are trained to be confident on stage, it is a life lesson that will help you to be comfortable just about anywhere.

Instructors are drawn from the ranks of Phoenix veterans with solid experience in both theatre and teaching.  As an active community theatre, Phoenix has a solid core of directors, music directors and choreographers as well as designers, technicians and performers.  The camp staff consists of a director, musical director and choreographer with assistants.  You will be working with the professionals who cast and produce the Phoenix shows you see on the Count Basie stage - no other summer program can make that claim!

Come meet us!
Phoenix will hold an Open House at our Rehearsal Center at 111 Monmouth Street, Red Bank on Sunday, January 29 from 3 - 5pm.  See our facilities, meet some of our staff, and find out why our program is one of the best!  Whether you are a returning camper or deciding your plans this summer, we'd love to see you.
